44 suspects arrested arrested by Yeoville police

YEOVILLE – 44 suspects are expected to appear in court for various criminal acts.

Yeoville police arrested 44 suspects, from 6 to 13 March.

They were arrested for committing crimes ranging from murder to kidnapping and robbery.

They were arrested for the following:

  • 1 for murder
  • 2 for armed robbery
  • 1 for attempted armed robbery
  • 1 for house break-in and theft
  • 1 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 1 for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition
  • 2 for possession of stolen property
  • 2 for possession of house break-in implements
  • 3 for common robbery
  • 5 for common assault
  • 4 for driving under the influence of liquor
  • 2 for possession of drugs
  • 2 for theft out of a motor vehicle
  • 1 for contravention of the Copyright Act
  • 10 for drinking in public
  • 2 for malicious damage to property
  • 2 for contempt of court
  • 2 for shoplifting.

“The accused have appeared in different courts and some have paid their fines. Others are out on bail and still others remain in prison,” said Yeoville police spokesperson, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
