Robin Peterson called up to scout heroes at Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge

JOBURG – Fiery cricket action expected to take centre stage from 24 to 26 March at Stellenbosch University Oval.

The Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge is back, and former Proteas cricketer, Robin Peterson, has once again been announced as the face of the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day.

The Coca-Cola Hero of the Day can be described as the wicketkeeper who pulls off an amazing catch, the tailender who smashes a bowler for a reverse sweep six to win a match or even the player who displays great sportsmanship.

With fiery cricket action expected to take centre stage from 24 to 26 March at Stellenbosch University Oval, Peterson, together with a panel of cricket experts, is tasked with ably handing out the daily Hero of the Day award in recognition of spectacular player heroics. His appointment comes after he successfully led the Hero of the Day panel at the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week last year, during which time the former player selected and rewarded two future SA U19 players.

“I would like to thank Coca-Cola for [en]trusting me with the responsibility of once again leading the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day judging panel. I’m incredibly proud to be associated with the Coca-Cola Schools T20 Challenge,” Peterson said. “I believe that the tournament is a great platform for young cricketers to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience. I can’t wait to see what talent we will uncover at the tournament.”

Speaking on Peterson’s appointment, Fetsi Mbele, senior communications manager at the soft drinks company, said, “Bringing Robin Peterson back on board to lead the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day panel was a no-brainer for us. He did a stellar job at the Coca-Coca Khaya Majola Cricket week, selecting five quality heroes, two of which have gone on to play for the Coca-Cola SA U19 team.

“The prestige of the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day award is growing with every tournament. It is becoming an award every young cricketer wants to win.”
