Jeppe police arrested a 32-year-old man in Kensington on 1 March in connection with the rape of an eight-year-old girl.
The girl told her mother that she was raped by the suspect on 27 February.
Jeppe police spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai said the suspect followed the girl into a room. He said it is alleged that he pulled her panties down and covered her mouth with his hand so she couldn’t scream while he raped her.
The victim’s mother reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. “He will appear soon in court while police investigations are continuing,” said Munyai.
