Music unites people

TROYEVILLE – Moloi uses his voice to inspire.

Through difficult times we all find ways in which to cope and music has been Letlhogonolo Moloi’s comfort and coping mechanism.

The Troyeville-based gospel artist was born in the North West and moved to Johannesburg to pursue his music. He has always had a passion for music and playing instruments. Like many young musicians, he began with hip-hop and house but found his true calling in gospel music.

“What exposed me to music was the challenges I’ve gone through in my life. During that time, I discovered that I have a gift and, therefore, I will never let it die,” said the 24-year-old.

“I can relate to gospel music because it’s all about delivering a message of hope and love. Gospel is my calling; I deliver a message of hope and touch people’s lives.”

Moloi added that music has been part of his family. “My grandparents and I used to sing at evening prayers and that grew with me.”

He is currently working on his first album, which he’ll be launching soon. “The album will be a 10-track album and I’m looking forward to launching it.” He said he is inspired by the likes of Kgotso Makgalemela, Oscar Moloi and Bishop Benjamin Dube, to name a few. He said he would like to work with Kgotso and Spirit of Praise in the near future.

“I want my music to touch lives and change people for the better. Music unites people and I would like to spread the gospel of love and peace. I would also like to encourage others to make an impact through music. Artists should not be afraid to take risks and challenges,” concluded Moloi.
