Jeppe boys and girls excel

Kensington – Jeppe girls and boys class of 2016, above expectations.

After 12 years of schooling, matrics at Jeppe High School for Boys, and its sister school, Jeppe High School for Girls shared their excitement with friends and family following the release of their matric results.

The eager youngsters were pleased with the results and excited about the new journey ahead. Jeppe Girls head girl Thirasha Waidyaratne obtained 10 distinctions, and Firdous Hamid obtained eight. Both of them are Ruth First scholarship beneficiaries. Erin van Wyk and Prianka Kara both obtained five distinctions and Katlego Matshwane obtained two.

Jeppe Boys also did well, with Ashwin van der Merwe and Derick Mathew obtaining seven. Matthew Gillmer, Andrew Laidley and Kilolo Muaku obtained six. Michael Gomes and Bradley Mann obtained five. Joad Pita obtained three distinctions and Ukuthula Khumalo two.

Jeppe Boys had 186 pupils write their matric exams and achieved a 98 per cent pass rate. Of the pupils who passed, 78 per cent were bachelor’s passes and 20 per cent were diploma exemptions.
