Share the spirit of Christmas

Joburg – Clr Bongani Nkwanyana urges residents to share with the less fortunate this festive season.

Ward 61 councillor, Bongani Nkwanyana said this has been a wonderful, challenging year and he is looking forward to 2017.

“Christmas is the time for friends and families, it’s a time to reflect on the year’s events. [The year] is coming to an end and another one is beginning. It is time to celebrate achievements we realised in 2016 and to set new plans and targets for 2017. It is time to remember people who are really in need, the less fortunate, and to share what we have with them,” said Nkwanyana.

He said it has been a privilege for him to serve his ward. “I met wonderful diverse people of all ages, as well as people from different walks of life. This has reinforced my belief that Ward 61, in particular, is a wonderful ward to live in.

“However, I note that there are a number of issues that need to be attended to, issues such as aged infrastructure, maintenance of ccouncil-owned buildings and\or the refurbishment of municipal buildings such as old-age homes, libraries, parks in Jeppe, the Bertha Solomon Recreation Centre and the Jeppe Men’s Hostel. The lack of general service delivery within the ward should also be addressed.”

He thanked the people and organisations that have been working tirelessly to enhance the area in which they live and work to make it a better place for future generations.

” Let us enjoy our time with family. The festive season allows all of us to take a step back from our busy lives and enjoy time with our loved ones. There is nothing more magical than trees decorated with lights, presents, family, and friends to brighten up our lives. Spending this season with the people we care for, makes it even more special.”

He asked residents to also share with the less fortunate, especially the ones who were affected by the floods. “The weather conditions caused serious problems over the past weeks and my thoughts this Christmas are especially with those who have suffered loss during the recent floods and will be spending the festive season in bad circumstances.”

He said he will be available throughout the festive season and those who wish to meet him can contact him.

“I would like to wish everyone a happy, peaceful Christmas and a prosperous new year.”
