Yeoville police officers arrested 31 suspects from 29 November to 5 December for various crimes ranging from housebreaking, driving under the influence of alcohol and sexual assault.
The suspects were arrested for the following charges:
- 1 for sexual assault
- 7 for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 3 for common assault
- 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
- 3 for possession of drugs
- 8 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- 2 for break-ins at business properties
- for possession of housebreaking implements and theft out of a motor vehicle
- 1 for theft
- 1 for child neglect
- 1 for robbery
- 1 for contravention of a protection order
- 1 for attempted hijacking.
“The suspects have appeared in court. Some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison while police investigations are continuing,” said spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
