Themba Moyo was found guilty of murdering his former girlfriend in the Gauteng South High Court in Palm Ridge and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on 23 November.
According to evidence, Moyo invited his ex-girlfriend to his home on 10 February where he stabbed her in the neck and chest. He then locked her in a room, leaving her to die.
Spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said, “The investigating officer, Constable Vongani Shihangule, worked tirelessly to solve this case. Using his tracking skills, he managed to hunt down the suspect and successfully link him to the murder. He investigated a solid docket to secure this conviction.
“Moyo pleaded guilty after he realised the case against him was overwhelming.”
