Get down with musical duo

JOBURG – The current African music scene has opened great opportunities for African artists to unite in song.

Musical collaborations between South Africa’s AKA and Nigeria’s Burna Boy have paved the way for a new generation of music stars of the African continent.

The latest music collaboration has been between the hot new Nigerian duo, Apex and Bionic of Resolute Entertainment, featuring South Africa’s very own golden boy, DJ Maphorisa of Uhuru.

DJ Maphorisa, who lives and records in Johannesburg, has jumped on board the project to produce a fireball of a dancefloor banger titled Get down.

“What’s great about the music we’re all producing today is that it is music for all Africans. There is no longer a distinction between what is South African and what is Nigerian. We’re all just producing world music that speaks to everyone and anyone,” said Apex.

The pair mentioned that the song was something they thought of, but later realised that to create the sound and effect they desired, they needed a producer such as DJ Maphorisa. “He has the style we required to execute our vision, and ultimately he guaranteed the results,” added Bionic.

Apex and Bionic have only dented the music scene with the exciting track but there is more to expect from them. Their EP, Nothing 2 Something is out and available on iTunes and on Soundcloud.

The two are eager to share their music and sound with the South African market and they are doing this through a social media movement.
