SAPS gives back for Mandela Day

“Through the outreach programme we hope to show the community that the Jeppe SAPS cares about them."

The Jeppe SAPS celebrated Mandela Day on July 18 by donating blankets and food parcels to the less fortunate in Bertrams sector one.

“The outreach programme, run by the SAPS, was conducted the whole week. Officers visited all four sectors of the Jeppe SAPS policing precinct,” said the Jeppe SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Richard Munyai.

On July 20, the officer visited the Maurice Freeman Center in Bertrams sector three, where donations of clothes, Bibles, soup and bread were handed out.

“We visited the George Goch informal settlement in sector four, where we continued donating clothes, Bibles, soup and bread on July 21,” said W/O Munyai.

He added that on July 22, police officers visited Jeppestown in sector two, where more donations were handed over.

Bibles were donated by the Gideon’s institution.

“Through the outreach programme we hope to show the community that the Jeppe SAPS cares about them. We believe that by working together with the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and the community at large, we can manage to fight crime in our precinct,” said W/O Munyai.
