Woman opens door to robbers

The men followed her into the house and assaulted her grandson and his girlfriend.

A Malvern woman mistakenly opened the door to house robbers on May 7 at about 9pm.

“She was in bed when someone knocked on the door. She opened the door and there were a few men standing at the door, asking about people who had been sitting outside the property earlier,” said Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS spokesperson.

Const Mashakane said the woman went inside the house and wanted to asked her grandson and his girlfriend about the people the men had inquired about.

The men followed her into the house and assaulted her grandson and his girlfriend.

They asked for money and cellular phones. She gave them R170.

The woman’s grandson and his girlfriend were later transported to hospital.
