Bogus cops hijack motorist

A driver was hijacked by bogus cops.

Bogus cops left a motorist in an open field after a hijacking on Wednesday, April 6, in Malvern.

The Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said the man was driving his company’s bakkie when he was stopped by a man posing as a metro police officer on Jules and 26th streets just before 6pm.

“The bogus cop requested the man’s driver’s license. He pretended to be inspecting the vehicle, looking at its license disc. The man then took out his firearm and pointed it at the driver. He forced him to move to the passenger’s seat. His accomplice entered the vehicle and they drove off with the driver inside the car,” said Const Mashakane.

She said the driver was tied up with his shoe laces.

“His face was also covered. They dropped him off in an open field. The driver was later able to untie himself and went to a nearby school where the police and his employer were notified,” said Const Mashakane.
