Residents urged to attend IDP meetings

The ward 66 councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha, said it is at these meetings where the planning development of the ward is discussed.

The ward 66 and ward 118 councillors have called on residents to participate in the Integrated Development Planning (IDP) process.

The ward 66 councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha, said it is at these meetings where the planning development of the ward is discussed.

“This is a public participation system that allows every single resident and organisation to submit requests to the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) for the upgrading or building or repairs of council infrastructure. It is an opportunity for the residents to be heard with regards to infrastructure wish-lists,” he said.

He said the city would then discuss the residents’ submissions and approve some of the projects within the ward.

“The approved projects are what the residents submit during the IDP road shows.

“This is an important exercise because it will be part of the capital expenditure (CAPEX) for the year 2016,” said Clr Da Rocha.

He said not all proposals or requests will be approved. He said the project requests brought by the residents will be given preference.

The IDP meeting, that includes residents from Ward 66, will be held this evening from 6pm to 8pm at the Yeoville Recreation Centre on the corner of Raleigh and Fortesque roads.

The IDP meeting, that includes ward 118 residents, will be held on Wednesday, April 20, from 6pm and 8pm at the Bertha Solomon Recreation Centre on the corner of Ford and Marshall streets in Jeppestown.
