Social club donates to charity

“If they are doing what we are doing, there will be less suffering in the country."

Christmas arrived early for two charity homes in Yeoville, when the Ichie Social Club South Africa donated R5 000 to the two homes on Monday last week.

The beneficiaries this year were the Nazareth Home and the Mother Teresa’s Home.

Mr Oluchukwu Daniel Ejiofor, the president of Ichie, said the club was formed by a group of friends who wanted to help each other.

“We are each other’s brother’s keepers. When any of us is having problems, we come together and help out. We contribute money every month,” he said.

He said his club is based on love and respect for everyone.

Mr Ejiofor said the club decided to do something for the needy instead of hosting a big year-end party.

He said the club donated R2 500 and groceries to each home.

Mr Ejiofor called on other social clubs to do what they are doing.

“If they are doing what we are doing, there will be less suffering in the country,” he said.

Sister Veronica Muphy thanked the club for its donations.

“These donations will go a long way in helping our residents.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you and your family for what you have done for us,” she said.
