Residents and businesses rally to clean-up Kensington

The outgoing chairperson, Mrs Lornette Joseph, was satisfied with the response from the community as well as businesses from the area.

The I love Kensington Association (Ilka) held a clean-up walk on March 21.

The Walk 5km Clean-up Challenge was well attended with the participation of Pick n Pay, ABI, McCarthy Toyota, Bedford Centre, Virgin Active, Stallion Security, Life Care Hospitals and Sherida Properties.

The outgoing chairperson, Mrs Lornette Joseph, was satisfied with the response from the community as well as businesses from the area.

“I would like to thank each and every person for their commitment to this project and in cleaning up Kensington,” said Ms Joseph.

Committee member Mr Robert Francis, who heads the charity portfolio of Ilka, said he was pleased with the turn out.

“We have been organising this walk for the last two or three months. Besides a few disappointments, we are generally happy with the way things turned out,” said Mr Francis.

“It is the first time we are teaming up with Pick n Pay and we hope it will continue and just get better and bigger,” he said.
