Man arrested for sexual assault

He said he had proposed to her many times before but she always turned him down.

The Jeppe SAPS arrested a 36-year-old man for attempted rape.

On February 6, at about 10am, a 27-year-old woman claimed she was fetching water from an outside tap at her residence in Jeppestown when a man staying in the same yard approached her.

He said he had proposed to her many times before but she always turned him down.

According to Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, from the Jeppe SAPS, the man allegedly grabbed and pulled the woman into his room and locked the door.

He pushed her onto the bed and sat on top of her, while holding her hands down.

W/O Munyayi said the woman fought back against the suspect and eventually managed to push him off her. She then managed to escape.

The victim went to the Jeppe SAPS and opened a case.

The suspect was arrested and detained. He is expected to appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations are continuing.
