Community joins together

During the meeting, residents vowed to work with the police and the Community Police Forum (CPF) to uproot crime and drug usage in the area.

The ward 118 councillor, Clr Mike Spadino, congratulated the Max Goodman Park community for taking charge of their area.

The community of Max Goodman Park held a public meeting to address drugs and crime in the area.

The meeting was held on Wednesday, January 28.

During the meeting, residents vowed to work with the police and the Community Police Forum (CPF) to uproot crime and drug usage in the area.

The committee chairperson, Mr Mike Tyler, said the residents will be working together to making their area safer.

“I believe we can turn our community around for it to be safe, clean and a better place for ourselves. A lot still needs to be done and collectively we can rise over the many socio-economic ills that plague our community,” said Mr Tyler

As part of the agreement, the community will attend the CPF meeting, which will be held on the third Wednesday of the month at Mandevillle.

The committee will report on what happened during the CPF meeting at the next community meeting, which is scheduled for the last Wednesday of the month.

The committee members are Mr Mike Tyler (chairperson), Mrs Faradiba Morton (first vice-chairperson), Ms Charmaine Bharoochie (second vice-chairperson) and Ms Sharon van Scalkwyk (secretary).

The standing members are Ms Maggie Hall, Ms Zuraida Ahmed, Ms Nicholas Williams and Ms Bridgette Maxton.
