Man hijacked by ‘policemen’

One man was arrested after bogus police officers allegedly hijacked a car at the corner of Milner Crescent and Onyx Street in Kensington on Tuesday, January 20.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said three men, driving a VW Golf 7, hijacked a white VW Golf 7.

“One of the three men was wearing a what appeared to be a police uniform,” she said.

The suspects ordered the driver of the vehicle to stop by using blue lights.

The men then tied the victim up with cable ties and drove around with him. He was eventually dropped off along Grey Avenue in Dinwiddie,” said Const Mashakane.

She said the car was later found abandoned in Germiston.

According to Const Mashakane, one person was arrested in connection with the crime.
