Two suspects may be linked to other crimes

The two men arrested on Wednesday, January 14, may be linked to other house breaking cases.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said the SAPS received information about a suspicious, red VW Polo on Edward Street in Kensington.

“Officers found the car next to the intersection of Edward and Ernest streets in Kensington. The men looked like they were inspecting a house in the area. When the suspects were searched, two screwdrivers, a crowbar and gloves were found in the car,” she said.

Const Mashakane said the men could not explain what they were doing in the area and what were they doing with the equipment.

She said the police discovered that the men came from Eldorado Park.

Const Mashakane said it was too early to confirm if the men were wanted for other cases.

“As part of the investigation we will see if we can link them to other cases. But for now, we cannot say,” she said.
