Yeoville SAPS Youth Desk to commemorate Mandela Day

The first event, which is a blanket drive through the streets of Yeoville, will take place on July 16.

The Yeoville SAPS Youth Desk will be involved in two events to commemorate Mandela Day on July 16 and 18 in Yeoville.

The first event, which is a blanket drive through the streets of Yeoville, will take place on July 16.

“We thought we should do our bit for our community. We will hand out blankets to the homeless. The cold front is upon us and in the spirit of Madiba, we must think of those who are less fortunate,” said Mr Ayanda Tongto, the deputy chairperson of the Youth Desk.

The second event will be held on July 18 and will be hosted by the 101 Children’s Foundation.

“We will hand out food parcels at orphanages and to 100 children from schools from Yeoville. We have adopted a particular home in the area to support,” said Mr Tongto.

He said this is their way of giving back to the community. “We decided to take part in giving back to the community we serve. We will also have a clean up with a 23-member team from the Youth Desk,” said Mr Tongto. @JoburgJourno
