SAPS commended

Police officers were praised yet again for seizing dagga and arresting suspects.

Over the past few months, several arrests were made in Malvern and the surrounding areas.

The EXPRESS previously reported that police officers discovered several packets of dagga outside a house in St Frusquin Street in Malvern.

According to Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, the dagga was found underneath a table. A man was arrested.

Days later, police officers again arrested two people for possession of drugs in the suburb.

The men were seen exchanging money and what was believed to be drugs. The police officers stopped and searched the men and a packet of cocaine was found.

The police officers went to the suspect’s house in Heriot Street where more drugs were found during a search.

This was followed by another arrest in the same street on May 5.

Const Mashakane said police officers received information about a man selling dagga.

They went to the address and found dagga.

Last week Mr Mike Spadino, the ex-chairperson of the Sector 3 Crime Forum and the We Love Malvern Community Forum said, “Congratulations to SAPS on another drug bust. May it continue. It is great to see community members passing on information to the SAPS and police officers acting on it. This will help build trust between the SAPS and the community. When the street patrollers are introduced, I think it will help to reduce crime even further.”
