A suspect died at a guest house in Kensington on March 24.
Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said three guests left their bags in their room and went shopping.
“When they came back, they found a man in their room. He told them he worked at the guest house. The guests then realised their bags had been searched,” said Const Mashakane.
They found a bundle of keys which the suspect used to open the rooms.
“The guests grabbed the suspect when he wanted to run away, but he collapsed as he was grabbed by one of the guests,” said Const Mashakane.
Paramedics were called but the suspect was certified dead.
Investigations are continuing.
