Quick action nets robber

A suspect has been arrested for robbing a man of his cellular phone in Yeoville.

The robbery occurred in Hunter Street. “The victim was walking home in the early hours of Sunday morning when a man appeared from a street and demanded that he hand over his cellular phone. The suspect was carrying a knife and threatened the victim,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.

Officers who were nearby noticed the commotion and attended to it. “The man was arrested at the scene and the victim’s property was recovered. The suspect is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of armed robbery and the possession of a dangerous weapon,” said Const Malatji.
