Two years and still no service

It took them about two days to repair the damage. When they left, I asked when they will tar the pavement which they had damaged. I was told this would take about one week before they would tar.

Editor – I read recently a story you published, “Incomplete work frustrates local”, in the EXPRESS and I thought I would let you know I have a similar problem.

Over two years ago, the electricity in our street went out and City Power came to see why. They discovered the electrical cable in front of the house was damaged and therefore proceeded to dig up the pavement to repair the cable.

Because of the damage, they brought through a large generator which allowed everyone to have electricity while they repaired the cable.

It took them about two days to repair the damage. When they left, I asked when they will tar the pavement which they had damaged. I was told this would take about one week before they would tar.

Well it has been four years.

I have tried phoning them and every time I get transferred from one person to the next. The one says I must speak to City Power. The other says I must speak to the roads agency. When I finally reached someone who I thought would help, they asked me if I had the vehicle registration number.

Why would I write down the vehicle registration number? All I could remember is that there was a City Power sign on the truck. Then they gave me a reference number and told me that someone would come out. When no one arrived, I called again only to be told the reference number I had was not the correct number. They gave me a new number which I repeated to them to make sure I wrote it correctly. Again no one arrived and again I was told the number was incorrect.

I even tried to email. All I received was a reference number. No one has contacted me or has repaired the pavement.

I feel so bad that my pavement is the most untidy pavement in the street and I am sure the neighbours think my pavement makes the street look bad and is giving our street a bad name.

The weeds are growing in the hole and I have to pay someone at least every second week to remove the weeds because I cannot do it myself. I tried. I try to get it to look a bit neater because I try to take pride of my home.
