Men caught for house robbery

Two men were arrested in connection with a house robbery that took place on July 21.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a man was asleep at his house in Galteemore Street, Malvern.

He heard people talking in his room. “When he opened his eyes he saw two men armed with a firearm. They told him to keep quiet and they tied his hands with an electric cord. They demanded money. The men took two laptops, a cellular phone, a television set and clothes before they fled the scene,” said Const Mashakane.

The man screamed for help and neighbours untied him. Police were called and a case of house robbery was opened.

The following day, police officers followed up information they received and arrested two men believed to have been involved in the incident.

The men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested in Persimmon Street in Malvern.

A laptop was recovered and one suspect was found in possession of ammunition.
