Boys give back to the community

Pupils from the Theo Jackson Scholarship Fund at Jeppe High School for Boys are giving back to the community.

A group of boys helped set up a vegetable garden at the Kgosi Neighbourhood Foundation in Jeppestown recently.
Mrs Elaine Jackson, responsible for administration of the fund, told the boys what the foundation does and they decided to fulfil their requirement to do community service hours there.
The mission of the foundation, which was founded in 2004, is to bring educational light into the lives of vulnerable children in Jeppestown, Belgravia and surrounding communities.
Its first initiative, the Wings of Hope pre-school, provides children with education to ensure school readiness.
The foundation has assisted 413 students and their parents by providing education, advocacy and compassionate care.
Its aim is to empower parents of the children in the pre-school through education and job creation programmes.
