Linksfield Primary wins quiz

Dunvegan Primary School’s team one and Hurlyvale Primary School’s team one were the top two teams in the first round of the Jeppe High School for Girls’ general knowledge quiz held recently.

Linksfield Primary School won the quiz for the second year running. The runners-up came from Dunvegan Primary School. Bedfordview Primary, Dunvegan Primary, Hurlyvale Primary, Jeppe Preparatory and Leicester Road were some of the schools that participated. Grade 6 and 7 pupils from eight primary schools participated in the event. Each school entered two teams.

The quiz comprised three rounds. A team from each school participated in the first two rounds. Winners and runners-up from the first two rounds competed against each other in the third round. The girls answered the questions electronically. Linksfield’s team two and Hurlyvale’s team two were the top two teams in the second round.

Linksfield Primary School’s winning team included Milagra Burazin, Kayla Govender, Sabrina Knodl and Humayra Akhalwaya. Runners-up from Dunvegan Primary School were Tiffany Harzon, Jenna Pyle, Carmen Parker and Ruth Bowdler.
Ruth had the highest score for the evening. The quiz questions were set by Mrs Fiona Newell, the head of department for science.
“She saw to it that the contestants were kept on their toes. Thank you to the parents and educators who came out in support of the participants,” said Ms Carole Heming, the public relations officer for Jeppe High School for Girls.
