Update: CoE installs extra channel on Boeing Road West dip

Themba Gadebe, CoE spokesperson, said emergency work was done in December 2019 and January 2020.

The City of Ekurhuleni has installed an extra channel on Boeing Road West dip after flooding in December 2019.

The NEWS reported in the December 11 edition, in the article “Rain brings floods on Boeing Road West”, where Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys reported flooding due to the drainage system on the road.

Themba Gadebe, CoE spokesperson, said emergency work was done in December 2019 and January 2020.

Gadebe said the flooding began due to a blocked channel.

“Due to the upgrading of the storm water system in the highway, all the water goes to this channel,” said Gadebe.

He added previously the City has done patching on the road.

Along with the extra channel, Gadebe said kerb inlets have been cleaned as well.
