Assumption Convent learners dazzle in 2019 IEB exams

Assumption Convent School celebrated another successful year with a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2019 IEB matric examinations.

Many private school learners waited with bated breath for their final Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate results.

The girls of Assumption Convent School, in Malvern East, were no different.

“We congratulate all our matrics of 2019, who achieved a 100 per cent pass rate,” said school principal Neville Workman.

Of the 49 candidates who sat for the final exams, 98 per cent achieved university exemption, which qualifies them to enter a university to pursue tertiary studies.

Assumption Convent School learner Téah Slabbert achieved four distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for Afrikaans, English, life orientation and life sciences.

The learners earned 103 distinctions between them, which equates to 2.1 distinctions per learner.

Olivia Wood was the school’s top achiever and did not only achieve nine distinctions for Afrikaans, English, geography, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics and physical science, but also earned her place on the IEB outstanding achievements list and was in the IEB’s top one per cent for geography, life sciences and mathematics.

“We’re very proud of all our matrics; well done, girls,” said Workman.

Carmen Mileder, from Assumption Convent School, achieved six distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for Afrikaans, dramatic arts, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

The school’s other top achievers included:

• Jodie Langdon who achieved eight distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics and physical science.

Langdon was also in the IEB’s top one per cent for English and life orientation.

• Amy Weinerlein who achieved eight distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics and physical science.

Assumption Convent School learner Chiara Bonnani earned six distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

Amy Weinerlein was also in the IEB’s top one per cent for Afrikaans and English.

• Chiara Bonnani who achieved six distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

Jade McIver, from Assumption Convent School, achieved five distinctions in Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations.

• Carmen Mileder who achieved six distinctions in Afrikaans, dramatic arts, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

She earned an impressive nine distinctions in Afrikaans, English, geography, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics and physical science. She also earned a place on the IEB outstanding achievements list and was in the IEB’s top one per cent for geography, life sciences and mathematics.

• Jade McIver who achieved five distinctions in Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

Alexia Markantonatos, from Assumption Convent School, achieved four distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for dramatic arts, English, life orientation and mathematics literacy.

• Chinenye Ngwu who achieved five distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation and life sciences.

Amy Weinerlein, from Assumption Convent School, achieved eight distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics and physical science. She also placed in the IEB’s top one per cent for Afrikaans and English.

• Alexia Markantonatos who achieved four distinctions in dramatic arts, English, life orientation and mathematics literacy.

Assumption Convent School learner Ilham Wadvalla earned six distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation, mathematics and advanced programme mathematics.

• Téah Slabbert who achieved four distinctions in Afrikaans, English, life orientation and life sciences.

Assumption Convent School learner Chinenye Ngwu earned five distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation and life sciences in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations.

• Katie-Meg Weinerlein who achieved four distinctions in Afrikaans, English, life orientation and life sciences.

Katie-Meg Weinerlein was also in the IEB’s top one per cent for Afrikaans.

Katie-Meg Weinerlein, from Assumption Convent School, earned four distinctions in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations for Afrikaans, English, life orientation and life sciences. She also placed in the IEB’s top one per cent for Afrikaans.
