A Bex Vally resident was shot dead during an armed robbery on January 3.
Capt. Richard Munyayi from Jeppe Police Station said three suspects stopped two men on 8th Avenue in Bez Valley and robbed them of two cell phones and a wallet.
“The suspects shot at the victims twice. One of the victims was struck by a bullet and was taken to Bedford Gardens Hospital where he later died,” said Munyayi.
Facebook posts about the matter initially claimed the incident was related to an attempted hijacking.
“Two firearms were used in the robbery and no hijacking took place,” said Munyayi.
A case of armed robbery and murder was opened at Jeppe Police Station and no arrests have been made.
