Raindrops don’t stop parkrun

The 5km run is held every Saturday at 8am although participants should be ready to run by 7.50am.

No matter the weather, Modderfontein Reserve Parkrun went ahead, with 194 runners attending the morning event on December 7.

The recent run was the 364th parkrun to be hosted by the reserve.

The parkrun organisers said they ordered the perfect weather for that parkrun day.

The weekly event is run by organisers, who expressed their gratitude to volunteers who helped make the run possible, regardless of the chill in the air.

Cleo Thangoane beat almost 200 runners when he took first place and reached his personal best time.

He completed his run in 00:18:45, almost two minutes away from clinching the overall male record.

Anrich Zimmermann holds the best time title, with 00:16:46 achieved during the 115th parkrun on March 7, 2015.
