Spring fun at St Andrew’s Spring Expo

On the day the expo had over 3 000 visitors.

Spring has sprung at St Andrew’s School for Girls, where the school held its 10th annual Spring Expo.

This community event has become a highly anticipated event with a number of stalls and many fun-filled activities.

On the day, the expo had over 3 000 visitors by midday.

A market at the foot of the school’s heritage building, Bedford Court.

St Andrew’s School for Girls was this year fortunate to receive support once again from FNB, which played a key role in making the day a success.

Grade 11 learners had a stall called Bullseye, one of the learners being Khumo Kgoadi, who said she has been learning how to be an entrepreneur and a risk taker.

The event supports local businesses and trade, as well as benefits our internal stakeholders, such as our rowing club and the Matric Dance Committee, in their fund-raising efforts.

The Spring Expo had over 100 stalls available, showcasing fashion items, children’s toys, motor car displays, interior decorating, gifts and many more.

The school also had fun activities for the children, such as a number of various inflatables and the ever-popular House of Horrors.

Also available was a food court catering to many culinary tastes.

The learners and uBambiswano Saturday School learners also ran their own stores as part of an entrepreneurial experience through FutureProof.

uBambiswano Grade N,ine learner Njabulo Suteka along with other learners, had a sweet stall at the expo.

The children were having a blast in the bubbles as part of the inflatable fun park.

“You get to see another side of business you don’t get to see. It is amazing to see how many people are willing to spend money and support others. It is very admirable and its what we need in South Africa,” said Suteka.

The expo also included the annual official SA Schools’ Rowing ergothon and brought great excitement with over 400 entries on the day.

Grade 11 St Andrew’s learner Khumo Kgoadi had an entertainment carnival stall at the Spring Expo.

The four senior school houses of St Andrew’s battled it out on the squash courts for the coveted Interhouse Squash Trophy.

The St Andrew’s School for Girls Spring Expo 2019 provided a wide variety of treats and bargains and offered patrons an opportunity to experience the lush gardens and rich history of the school.

It was an enjoyable day for learners and their families.
