The Dicki Fritz Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTH) Shellhole veterans were spoiled rotten on Mandela Day.

About 43 residents attended the event where Viksha introduced the sponsors and agenda for the day.

Present veterans expressed their appreciation.

“This is a nice initiative, the efforts made to put this together was great,” said ex-service women Lyn Guy.

Cathy Jordaan, who is also an ex-service woman, said she didn’t expect the treat.

Dicki Fritz veterans received back and hand massages on Mandela Day.

When asked if they have met Nelson Mandela before, Lyn said she wished she could’ve met him, when he was released from prison she was in Port Elizabeth at work.

“We didn’t do much work that day. We were all glued to the television and when we saw him released we were so happy, we cheered and celebrated,” said Lyn.

Residents Daphne Hodgson, Hilary Harris and Cheryl Hartwell of the Dicki Fritz MOTH House were pampered for Mandela Day.

Larissa Zyamzina, the founder and CEO of DYME beauty, said the veterans deserved the treat.

“The veterans have really come a long way, so today they deserve to relax.”
