Growing coverage

The new poles will carry both cellphone antennas and street lamps.

City Power and various mobile network companies proposed to install new cellular network antennas in Stoneridge Drive, Greenstone.

According to City Power, the exercise will improve network coverage and deal with the increase of cellular demand.

Installation of the antennas will require the removal of certain City of Joburg lamp poles.

The new poles will carry both cellphone antennas and street lamps.

A base station will also be built next to the new poles for power.

Ward 32 Clr Bongani Nkomo urged community members to contact him with comments of approval or disapproval to this proposal.

“Deadline for comments is July 12 and comments can be sent to bonganiward32@gmail.com,” said Nkomo.
