Man horrified by large rats scurrying around at Eastleigh Commuter Centre

"This is absolutely disgusting and has turned the area into what can only be described as a rubbish dump."

Editor – I write about a serious health problem.

Towards the end of last year, I drove past the Eastleigh Commuter Centre.

I was horrified to see two large rats scurrying through a pile of garbage on the opposite side of the road.

Going past again the following day I was confronted with several men spreading garbage and rubbish across the pavement.

This is absolutely disgusting and has turned the area into what can only be described as a rubbish dump.

It is also dangerous as it forces pedestrians to walk in the road at what is a very busy intersection.

Surely the municipality is aware of this?

The vagrants doing this need to be advised to move to a more suitable venue that can be supervised to meet health department and other municipal regulations.

I have spoken to several other residents who are also appalled at the situation which is degrading the entire suburb.

Do you think there is anything that can be done about it?

Dennis Hoines.
