Sinterklaas hands out Christmas presents

The day was cheerful and colourful with a consistent flow of costumers, different stalls offering a variety of goodies and delicious Dutch delicacies from De Backery.

Festivities have begun and De Backery kick-started the season in style when it hosted its annual Dutch Sinterklaas Day on December 1.

The popular bakery hosted the event on De Molen Street and celebrated with the handing out of gifts to children. These gifts were delivered to De Backery beforehand.

The market was a buzz, with families chatting away at their tables.

Nicky and Fred Roderick, Alexis and Megan Lategan, and Ronnie and Elsa Bosch enjoy some family time.

“We usually have big families that get together and come from different places for this event. The day is focused on the presenting of gifts to children and fun family times,” said Mark Verhoogt from De Backery.
