Four players from JVW to play for Banyana Banyana

Captain and defender, Janine van Wyk made her Banyana Banyana debut in 2005.

Banyana Banyana has qualified for the Fifa Women’s World Cup 2019 in France, and JVW Football Club (FC), based in Bedfordview, has four brilliant players that will represent SA in the world soccer spectacle next year.

Defender Janine van Wyk is Banyana Banyana’s captain. She made her debut in 2005.

“I started playing football with my cousins after watching my uncles play almost every weekend,” said van Wyk.

Van Wyk wears jersey number five and has for five seasons played for JVW FC.

However, she has for the past season not been playing for JVW FC. For the 2017/2018 season, she has been playing for the Houston Dash in the USA.

Midfielder Nompumelelo Nyandeni has been playing for JVW FC for four seasons and has scored 18 goals for the club and wears the same number on her jersey.

She has been playing for Banyana Banyana since 2002.

Midfielder Jermaine Seoposenwe has been playing for Banyana Banyana since 2010.

“I started playing football because I would go watch my brother play and join in on the fun,” said Nyandeni.

In 2005, midfielder Mamello Makhabane made her debut for Banyana Banyana.

She has scored five goals for JVW FC in four seasons and wears jersey number 11.

“Well honestly, I think it was just a gift from God because nobody in my family was really playing football.

“I just saw myself playing with friends from my hometown area and having fun,” said Makhabane.

Jermaine Seoposenwe is a midfielder and has played for JVW FC for one season.

She wears jersey number one and has scored four goals for the club.

“I was a tomboy and all my guy friends played football in the streets, so I just joined them. I guess I didn’t want to miss out on all the fun they were having,” said Seoposenwe.

She has been playing for Banyana Banyana since 2010.
