Athletes win their share of R100 000 in Edenvale

“We got a very good response and feedback from the community.”

Soccer players and volleyball players recently came together for Pure Fountain Family Church’s (PFFC) volleyball and soccer challenge.

Held on October 27 at the Edenvale Sports Grounds the challenge saw competitors battle it out among each other for first place.

Approximately 40 volleyball and 40 soccer teams competed against one another.

The winning teams won a portion of the R100 000 prize money.

The winning teams were:

• Jaydeen Juniors won the junior soccer tournament.

• Tiki won the senior soccer tournament.

• VUT Volleyball Club won the female volleyball league.

• Peace Makers won the men’s open volleyball league.

• Delfos won the master’s volleyball league.

Teams which competed in the event included athletes from the Johannesburg East area.

In addition to the sports tournament, the church raised awareness for Thames House Rehabilitation Centre.

The event was held in partnership with non-profit organisation City Takers which is affiliated to the church.

Joash Moodley from City Takers said the event was well supported by the community.

“We got a very good response and feedback from the community.”

Roger Govender from PFFC said businesses from the area also supporting the event.
