The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to distance itself from the bogus chainsaw motorised vehicles tender scam circulating, scamming people of their hard-earned monies.
The culprits send possible victims an appointment letter bearing the City of Ekurhuleni logo together with the fraudulently generated order number for bidders to bid to supply chainsaws to the City for 12 months.
The victims are thereafter given specific specs of the chainsaw motorised vehicle that is only available from one service provider and are requested to deposit a certain amount of money before delivering the goods.
“This is a scam and the city distances itself from it. An investigation is currently on-going to establish if there is any involvement of the City’s officials in this scam,” spokesperson for the City, Themba Gadebe said.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to be aware of the unauthorised use of City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) name, email address, employee names and logos.
The fraudulent emails have some elements of similarities to the CoE email example: name.surname@ekurhuleni-gov.org.
The difference is as follows:

Correct email: …@ekurhuleni.gov.za
