Robbers took off with Bedfordview resident Paul Ryan’s Rolex watch which has been in his family for 40 years.

Ryan told the NEWS on August 26 he went to Momentum Golf Village where he had lunch.
He noticed a white Range Rover parked in the parking area at the village and one of its occupants exiting the vehicle and sitting at a table nearby.

After lunch, Ryan went home and passed through the security boom gate of the complex towards his house where he realised the white Range Rover had followed him.
As Ryan opened his car door, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him, while the other suspect was at the other door.

“They asked for my keys and my Rolex,” said Ryan.
He said the suspects told him to open the back of his car where they took his iPhone, iPad and iMac, which had been in his briefcase.
“I think they simply wanted my Rolex because they asked for it as if they knew I had it,” said Ryan.
Ryan said the Rolex was given to him by his late father 25 years ago.
The watch was given to his father by his grandfather in 1976.
The Rolex is a silver oyster perpetual worth R85 000 to R90 000 and has been in the Ryan family for 40 years.
The security guard let the vehicle into the residential area and took the registration.

Ryan believes there were four suspects in total, two who robbed him, one who stayed at the gate with the security guard and one who was driving the vehicle.
He believes the suspects followed him and sought out the Rolex.
Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Capt André de Jager confirmed the incident and said police are investigating an armed robbery case.
“A Rolex watch was taken during the robbery. The complainant also said he saw three suspects but we are looking into whether there were more involved,” said de Jager.
