First Edenvale Parkrun a success
“The idea behind the runs is to encourage a healthy lifestyle.”
A total of 577 runners braved the morning chill of August 25 to take part in Edenvale’s first Parkrun.
The inaugural run was held at the open grounds near the corner of First Avenue and Aitken Road.
Ekhurhuleni ambassador of Parkrun SA, Meg McDonald said the community responded well to the event.
McDonald said it was launched to cater for the Edenvale community.
She said the Edenvale Community Police Forum and a local security company provided security on the day.

McDonald said the area offers a variety of Parkruns for Bedfordview, Modderfonetin and Edenvale communities.
“Because of the terrain, Edenvale’s run is a trail run,” said McDonald.
She said on average one or two new Parkruns are opened a week throughout South Africa.
