Man wanted for hijacking arrested in Katlehong

“The 37-year-old Mozambican national was cornered and handcuffed.”

A man wanted for hijacking in Cleveland was arrested in Katlehong on July 10.

This was after an unknown number of assailants hijacked a white Toyota Hilux in Cleveland on June 25.

The hijacked vehicle was recovered the same day by the SAPS members.

Information about the suspects was submitted to law enforcers and investigations kicked off.

“Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s Public Order Policing Unit members gave backup to Katlehong North SAPS members after information received pointed to one of the suspects being holed up at Motloung Section in Katlehong on July 10,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

“The 37-year-old Mozambican national was cornered and handcuffed. He was detained at Katlehong Police Station on charges of car hijacking. He is expected to appear in court soon while police investigations continue. The hunt is still on for his accomplices,” Kgasago said.
