Don’t forget the animals this Mandela Day

Visitors can construct, donate materials or give their time to helping the SPCA.

This Mandela Day why not lend a hand at Edenvale SPCA and give back to the furry friends who can’t speak for themselves.

Today (July 18) community members are welcome to visit the SPCA, lend a hand and get involved.

Visitors can work on projects, donate materials or spend their 67 Minutes for Mandela to helping the SPCA.

Inspector Jade Nel said there are several projects which need the assistance of the community.

The projects include:

• Constructing a chicken roost and feeders to accommodate 17 chickens.

• New fencing for the field and farmyard.

• The repainting of outdoor concrete decorations near the reception (SPCA requests blue and white paint).

• Toys to be made for cats in the cattery (SPCA has the materials needed).

Other items on the SPCA’s wish list include blankets, animal food, tick and flea repellent, stationery, cat litter and cleaning materials.

Jade said community members can also donate R67 which will go towards renovation costs or R670 which will sponsor a sterilisation.

Three-month virtual adoptions of farmyard animals, at a monthly fee of R100, are available.
