Numerous arrests for Edenvale’s officers

"Officers made numerous arrests related to assault and domestic violence we urge community members to resolve conflict peace fully,"

During June officers from Edenvale’s Police Station arrested 84 suspects.

Capt Jean Olckers, spokesperson of Edenvale SAPS, said the suspects were arrested throughout Edenvale’s four policing sectors.

Crimes which contributed the most to the total arrests were:

• Drug-related activities (19).

• Driving under the influence of alcohol (27).

• Shoplifting (nine).

• Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (five).

Other arrests included common assault, attempted robbery, business burglary, crimen injuria, culpable homicide, domestic violence, fraud, malicious damage to property, domestic violence, intimidation, theft, theft out of a motor vehicle and trespassing

“Officers made numerous arrests related to assault and domestic violence. We urge community members to resolve conflict peacefully,” said Olckers.

“Community members are encouraged to avoid the abuse of alcohol.”

Olckers also advised residents to remain alert when leaving and arriving home.

He warned against motorists stopping for unmarked vehicles on the side of the road and highways.

Olckers thanked everyone who assisted in making the arrests.
