JVW loss can’t keep them down

JVW turned their luck around when they beat Soweto Fabulous 3-0 at the Nike Centre in Soweto on June 24.

The Gauteng Sasol Women’s League saw the women of Bedfordview’s JVW do battle against reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The match took place at Bedfordview Country Club on June 22 where the home team lost to Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0.

Banyana Banyana forward Rhoda Mulaudzi took a free ticket which sealed their win against JVW.

“From the start, it was a game for both sides,” said JVW’s Claudi Raposo.

“They were very strong up front, but I think we also matched them and stepped up.

“Our defence line was very physical, and we didn’t allow them through. It was just unfortunate that a cheeky free-kick gave them the goal. Other than that, I think we dominated every other tackle,” said Raposo.
