#Power_Alert – STAGE 4 load shedding has begun… Stage 4 explained

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) will make use of the 2014 schedules.

Eskom has confirmed that it will commence with stage 4 load shedding.

Stage 1 load shedding means the power utility needs to recover 1 000MW of power from the grid. The average household will be shed for around two and a half hours. This will happen every second day.

Stage 2: This means that double the amount of power (2 000MW) needs to be recovered. Households can expect to be shed once a day for around two and a half hours.

Stage 3: A power recovery of up to 4 000MW needs to happen. This means the Eskom will require double the amount of power to be shed that at stage 2. You are likely to experience two and a half hour blackouts two to three times a day.

Stage 4: Eskom needs to recover more than 4000MW in order to prevent a national blackout. Under stage 4 load shedding Eskom can implement unscheduled power cuts without warning. This is the final option for the power utility.

Residents are asked to take note that the 2014 schedules will be used. Here are your schedules:
