Dunvegan karatekas excel

In addition to winning medals, the local karatekas qualified for their SA JKA national colours.

Karate students from Brian van der Bijl’s School of Karate recently represented Gauteng at the South African Japan Karate Association’s (SA JKA) Karate Championships.

The Dunvegan karate students won numerous medals and contributed to the Gauteng team’s 13 medals.

Karate students who won medals automatically qualified for their SA JKA national colours.

Local karate student Liam van Schalkwyk qualified for the elite division and will compete on the SA JKA’s national team at the upcoming African Cup Tournament in September.
