Writers 2000 will host renowned author at its next meeting.

Writers 2000 will host a renowned author at its next meeting.

The meeting will be held on April 21 and those attending are urged to arrive at 1.30pm for 2pm.

Luke Alfred is a long-time journalist and author.

He served his newspaper apprenticeship at the Sunday Independent in the mid-1990s.

He spent 10 years at the Sunday Times, just over three of them as sports editor, where he was also the newspaper’s 2010 World Cup correspondent.

He and his wife, Lisa, live in Kensington. They have three sons: Sam, Jake and Thomas, two dogs and two exceptionally lazy cats.

Members pay R15 and non-members R20, which includes refreshments.

The meeting will be held at the Inyoni Creek Club House, Rand Aid Complex at the corner of Modderfontein and Wordsworth roads.
