Rapist sentenced to 15 years following investigations by Bedfordview detective

The victim said he pushed her and her daughter into nearby bushes and demanded she hid her daughter

A 35-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the rape of a woman on Kloof Road in Bedfordview on July 14, 2015.

Bedfordview SAPS acting spokesperson Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi said the victim was walking on Kloof Road with her eight-year-old daughter at about 3pm when a man wearing a blue work suit approached her and pointed a knife at her.

The victim said he pushed her and her daughter into nearby bushes and demanded she hid her daughter with a gown.

She did so and he then ordered her to take her clothes off and he proceeded to rape her.

“The victim said he told her to get dressed. He searched her bag and took her cellphone,” said Nhlabathi.

The rapist was sentenced at the Germiston Regional Court.
