A man was placed under arrest after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.
The man was arrested on February 17 during a routine patrol.
Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, said two officers made the arrest after they found a group of men drinking in public.

“While they were addressing the men drinking in public, a man began verbally abusing an officer,” said Olckers.
Another community member then allegedly began assaulting one of the officers.
“Because the group was becoming aggressive the officers called for back-up.”
